Logo and Slogan (Tagline) Design Competition for New CWSN Vertical on DIKSHA

Inclusion in education is inevitable and at present the education system in India has entered an era wherein after generating sufficient awareness about diverse group of learners and their learning needs the system of school education is working towards addressing the challenge of ‘how’ and ‘what’ of inclusive pedagogy practices, with leveraging the potential of ICT solutions. Appropriately designed software and hardware allow learners with special needs and their respective caregivers to participate effectively in education and achieve their optimum potential. This particular aspect has also been highlighted in the National Education Policy-2020 “The Policy also recognizes the importance of creating enabling mechanisms for providing Children with Special Needs (CWSN) or Divyang, the same opportunities of obtaining quality education as any other child.”

Various initiatives of Government of India towards encouraging digital education such as DIKSHA-One Nation One Digital Platform, PM e-Vidya, Samagra Shiksha Programme has significantly changes the digital education landscape of India.

Objectives

The dream of equitable and inclusive education envisaged in NEP 2020, can’t be realized unless or until all children, including the ones belonging to SEDG’s, have effective access to ICT solutions related to learning goals. The NEP 2020 recognizes five identities of Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) mentioned below

  • gender identities (particularly female and transgender individuals),
  • socio-cultural identities (such as Scheduled Castes, Schedule Tribes, OBCs, and minorities),
  • geographical identities (such as students from villages, small towns, and aspirational districts), disabilities (including learning disabilities)
  • socio-economic conditions (such as migrant communities, low income households, children in vulnerable situations, victims of or children of victims of trafficking, orphans including child beggars in urban areas, and the urban poor)
  • Disabilities (All conditions recognized in RPwD Act 2016)

With this background, a new vertical dedicated to provide quality teaching and learning material based on UDL principles, is conceptualized, on DIKSHA, with the aim to provide educational resources at one click.

  1. The objective of this vertical would be to provide the learners, parents, teachers and other stakeholders in the area of CWSN education the necessary e-content and educational e-resources at one place.
  2. Content will be in the form of ISL videos, byte-sized videos, comic books, info graphics, audio files, etc. based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning

Prior to the launch of CWSN vertical on DIKSHA, logo and slogan (tagline) is to be developed. Participation from citizens of India is invited for the creation of logo and slogan.

Call for Participation:

Participation is invited for designing of the logo and slogan. The logo should celebrate the joyful and inclusive essence of learning, in line with the vision of honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, “Education should not only be inclusive but also be equitable”.

The entire initiative of CWSN Vertical on DIKSHA, is specially focused on school education. Inclusive pedagogical practices follows Universal Design of Learning (UDL), and encourages preparation of teaching learning content in multiple formats such as talking books, audiobooks, Indian Sign Language (ISL), flip books, digitally interactive and so on.

In this background, the logo and slogan should represent all the identities of SEDG’s recognized in NEP 2020.

Logo designing and slogan writing are two separate competitions. An individual may participate in any one or both the competitions.
