Respected Principal Sir, Teachers and My dear Friends Good Morning to All
Presence here, my name is Chetan Darji. Today I am here to give speech on World Water Day. Water has vey much importance in our lives. We can say that, “Water is Life“.
Life Begins from water, when we saw a seed in soil, it will not grow until we nourish it, we daily give water to that seed then it grows into a plant. What we eat daily, fruits, vegetables, cereals etc. they are available to us only because of “water”. We can realize the Importance of water by looking at our daily routine.
As the population is increasing, we are facing the problems of shortage of different natural resources because we are not handling them properly. Some Countries of the world are also facing water shortage which is very disastrous to them. For Example in India, resident of Bicholim (Goa) and it neighboring areas has faced severe water problems and in Pakistan, the area of “Thar” has lost many children due to severe drought. Other countries like Brazil, China US, Jordan, South Africa , Libya, Kosovo are also facing water problems.
By Considering all the threats and problems, United Nation (UN) proposed to celebrate World Water Day on 22 March each year, according to the agenda 21 of United Nations. This was first proposed in the conference of United Nations on Environment and Development in 1992. And the first World Water Day was celebrated on 22 March 1993.
The Purpose to Celebrate this World Water day is to remind that we should follow the guidelines to save water for us and for our future generations. United Nations and its member nations celebrate this day by promoting and implementing the recommendations of UN to save water resources. Different organizations promote ways to save water, treatment of waster water to make it clean, and to protect the aqueous habitats.
Each Year, World Water Day has a different them, and it is celebrated according to the theme. For Example in 2014 “World Water Day” theme was “Water and Energy”. So according to the theme, the Strategies to use water.

आदरणीय प्रधानाचार्य महोदय, शिक्षकों और मेरे प्यारे दोस्तों, सभी को सुप्रभात
यहाँ उपस्थिति, मेरा नाम चेतन दारजी है। आज मैं यहां विश्व जल दिवस पर भाषण देने आया हूं। जल का हमारे जीवन में बहुत अधिक महत्व है। हम कह सकते हैं कि, “जल ही जीवन है”।
जीवन की शुरुआत पानी से होती है, जब हमने मिट्टी में एक बीज देखा तो वह तब तक नहीं उगेगा जब तक हम उसका पोषण नहीं करेंगे, हम रोज उस बीज को पानी देते हैं फिर वह पौधा बन जाता है। हम प्रतिदिन जो कुछ भी खाते हैं, फल, सब्जियाँ, अनाज आदि, वे हमें “जल” के कारण ही उपलब्ध होते हैं। जल के महत्व को हम अपनी दिनचर्या को देखकर समझ सकते हैं।
जैसे-जैसे जनसंख्या बढ़ रही है, हमें विभिन्न प्राकृतिक संसाधनों की कमी की समस्या का सामना करना पड़ रहा है क्योंकि हम उन्हें ठीक से संभाल नहीं रहे हैं। दुनिया के कुछ देश पानी की कमी का भी सामना कर रहे हैं जो उनके लिए बहुत ही विनाशकारी है। उदाहरण के लिए, भारत में बिचोलिम (गोवा) और उसके आस-पास के क्षेत्रों में पानी की गंभीर समस्या का सामना करना पड़ा है और पाकिस्तान में, "थार" के क्षेत्र में गंभीर सूखे के कारण कई बच्चे मारे गए हैं। ब्राजील, चीन अमेरिका, जॉर्डन, दक्षिण अफ्रीका, लीबिया, कोसोवो जैसे अन्य देश भी पानी की समस्या का सामना कर रहे हैं।सभी खतरों और समस्याओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए, संयुक्त राष्ट्र (यूएन) ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र के एजेंडे 21 के अनुसार प्रत्येक वर्ष 22 मार्च को विश्व जल दिवस मनाने का प्रस्ताव रखा। यह पहली बार 1992 में पर्यावरण और विकास पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र के सम्मेलन में प्रस्तावित किया गया था। और पहला विश्व जल दिवस 22 मार्च 1993 को मनाया गया था।
इस विश्व जल दिवस को मनाने का उद्देश्य यह याद दिलाना है कि हमें अपने लिए और अपनी आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए पानी बचाने के दिशा-निर्देशों का पालन करना चाहिए। संयुक्त राष्ट्र और इसके सदस्य राष्ट्र जल संसाधनों को बचाने के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र की सिफारिशों को बढ़ावा देने और लागू करने के द्वारा इस दिन को मनाते हैं। विभिन्न संगठन पानी को बचाने के तरीकों को बढ़ावा देते हैं, इसे साफ करने के लिए अपशिष्ट जल का उपचार करते हैं और जलीय आवासों की रक्षा करते हैं।
प्रत्येक वर्ष, विश्व जल दिवस का एक अलग दिन होता है, और यह थीम के अनुसार मनाया जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए 2014 में “विश्व जल दिवस” की थीम “जल और ऊर्जा” थी। तो थीम के अनुसार पानी के उपयोग की रणनीति।
