Respected Principal, Teachers and my dear fellow students, A warm good morning to all. Today we are gathered here to celebrate National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated on 14th December. The day is organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the Ministry of Power.
First of all, let me ask you, what do we mean by energy conservation? Energy conservation is the effort to reduce wasteful energy services. Energy can be conserved by reducing waste and losses as well as by improving efficiency, operations and maintenance.
The objective of celebrating Energy Conservation Day is to generate mass awareness about the importance of saving energy. It also aims to reduce the use of energy and to encourage people to use it efficiently. The exact meaning of energy conservation is using less energy by avoiding the unnecessary usage of energy. Efficient use of energy is very necessary to save it for the future usage.
Celebrating Energy Conservation Day sensitize people about the importance of energy conservation. In order to make energy conservation plan more effective every person should include energy conservation in their behavior. Simple tips are;
- a)turn off devices and appliances when not in use,
- b)purchase devices and appliances which consume less energy.
- c)use CFL and LED bulbs
- d)walk or use cycle instead of driving if possible. Non – renewable resources like fossil fuels, crude oil and coal generate energy for our daily life. Increasing demand of these resources create the fear of diminishing the natural resources. Replacing the non-renewable resources of energy with the renewable energy is also energy conservation.
The annual Energy conservation awards recognize achievements in energy conservation by the industries, buildings and manufacturers. It raises awareness that energy conservation plays a big part in India’s response to reduce global warming through energy savings.
Educating people, especially young generation about how to save energy is very essential. Energy Conservation Day is celebrated by organizing events like discussions, conferences, debates, workshops and competitions throughout the country.
On this Energy Conservation day let us promise to switch off fans and lights whenever we go out. Now onwards let us be more concerned about energy conservation.
