Har Ghar Tiranga - Essay, Debate and Social Media Video Competition

Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, in its extended efforts to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” also initiating “Har Ghar Tiranga” Campaign with an aim to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the citizen and promote awareness about our national flag. The Constitution of India provides right of freedom to the citizens of India and guarantees individual rights that were considered vital by the framers of the Constitution. In this context, Department of Legal Affairs, GOI glad to announce following competitions for wider participation of law students studying in Law Colleges / Institutes of India in the following categories:

Essay Competition“Envisioning India @2047” in about 2500 wordsEntry should be in PDF Format
Debate on Constitutional IssuesTopic may be chosen by the students based on the Constitution of IndiaPDF and Video

Certificates and Awards

Following Cash Prizes, Trophies and Certificates shall be awarded to the National & State level winners in each of the three competition i.e. Essay, Debate & Post on Social Media by Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA).

Terms and Conditions

  • The Competition is open to all Indian students studying in Law Colleges / Institutes across all the States of India.
  • All entries must be submitted on www.MyGov.in. Entries submitted through any other portal/ medium/mode will not be considered for evaluation.
  • A participant can send one entry only for one competition. Separate entries may be sent for each competition.  In case it is found that any participant has submitted more than one entry for one competition, all the entries will be considered as invalid.
  • Each entry should be original. Plagiarised entries will not be considered for evaluation and will treated as invalid.
  • Please note that the Essay must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.
  • Anyone found infringing on others’ copyright would be disqualified from the competition. Government of India does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of Intellectual Property Rights by the participants.
  • Mention of name/email etc. of the participant anywhere in the body of the essay or in video will lead to disqualification.
  • Participants to make sure that their www.MyGov.in profile is accurate and updated as Department of Legal Affairs (DoLA) shall be using this for further communication. This includes details such as the name, photograph, complete postal address, e-mail ID and phone number and details of the colleges/institute. Entries with incomplete profiles will not be considered.
  • DoLA reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the Competition and/or the Terms & Conditions/Technical Parameters/Evaluation Criteria etc.
  • However, any changes to the Terms and Conditions/Technical Parameters/Evaluation Criteria, or cancellation of the Contest, will be updated/posted on the www.MyGov.in platform. It would be the responsibility of the participants to keep themselves informed of any changes in the Terms & Conditions/Technical Parameters/Evaluation Criteria etc. stated for this Contest.

Evaluation Criteria

Selection of the best entries in each category will be taken up as follows:

Essay & Debate Competition

  • For Debate Competition, the faculty of the respective Law Colleges/Institutes will encourage the students to register and participate in the competition on MyGov and subsequently judge the debate at their college/institute level.
  • At the first level, designated Institute/team will form a Committee of Experts to examine the entries at the State/UT level and out of these select the 20 best entries for both the competitions from each State with One best entry from each State for dispatch to the DoLA.
  • Next, the selected entries in both the competitions from each state will constitute a pool of shortlisted entries at the national level for final selection of best Three (3) entries in both competitions that will be decided by a Team of Experts constituted by the DoLA.
  • All the entries received within the due date will be placed before Team of Experts, the decision of which will be final and binding on all the contestants.
  • Any legal proceeding arising out of the competition/its entries/ winners shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi only.

The write-ups (essay) will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Relevance to the Theme – Subject Content (40%)
  2. Comprehensiveness (20%)
  3. Originality of the Idea (20%)
  4. Insights (20%)

The Debate will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Use of Arguments – Subject Content (40%)
  2. Presentation Style & Clarity (20%)
  3. Documentation of arguments (30%)
  4. Videography OR Photography (10%)

Post on Social Media (Video)

  • At the first level, Social Media team of DoLA will evaluate the entries at the State/UT level and out of these select the 20 best entries from each State with One best entry from each State for dispatch to the DoLA.
  • Next, the selected entries in both the competitions from each state will constitute a pool of shortlisted entries at the national level for final selection of best Three (3) entries in both competitions that will be decided by a Team of Experts constituted by the DoLA.

  1. Outreach (50%)
  2. Relevance to the Theme – Subject Content (30%)
  3. Creativity (10%)
  4. Insights (10%)
