Introduction

This Chapter is an extract from the auto biography of Nelson Mandela ‘Long Walk to Freedom’. Mandela who was in prison for about 30 years, has given a description of sufferings which they had to face during the struggle for attaining freedom.

Description

Nelson Ralihlahla Mandela, a south African leader, struggled against the racial discrimination between ‘the inauguration’ on 10th May, 1994 when he was swarm as the first black president of democratic south Africa.

The Ceremony took place in a building in Pretoria. His daughter, Zenani, was also with him. He wished that freedom in Africa should reign according to him, no one is different from others on the basis of color of the skin and religion. He talked about the twin obligations, to his family and nation.

He said that he was born free but as he grew up, he realized that his freedom was yeast on illusion. He began to feel hunger for freedom. He joined African National Congress in 1943 and fought for the freedom of his country. In the end, he stated that bravery is not the absence of fear but the victory. Over it, so he has been rightly remarked as an ideal of dare, humanity of freedom.

Conclusion

The more a man suffers, the more determined he becomes so, we should never give up, always struggle hard with full dedication in order to succeed.
