Consumer Rights means the each consumer has right to have information about the quality, potency, quantity, purity, price and World Consumer Rights Day was the idea of former American President John F Kennedy.
He sent a special message to the US Congress on 15 March 1962, he formally addressed the issue of Consumer Rights.
The First Consumer movement was stated in 1983 and now it is celebrated every year. Every year, World Consumer Day celebrated with a new theme. The celebrating consumer day means to ensure that they are not the victim of market malpractices or social injustice. It signifies solidarity in the International Consumer Movement, demanding that consumer Rights are to be respected and protected.
Basic Consumer Rights, that everyone must be aware are Right to Safety, Right to Information, Right to Redress, Right to Consumer Education, Right to Basic Needs.

विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस हर साल 15 मार्च को विश्व स्तर पर मनाया जाता है। यह उपभोक्ता अधिकारों और आवश्यकताओं के बारे में जागरूकता देखने के लिए चिह्नित किया गया दिन है। उपभोक्ता अधिकार का अर्थ है कि प्रत्येक उपभोक्ता को गुणवत्ता, क्षमता, मात्रा, शुद्धता, कीमत के बारे में जानकारी रखने का अधिकार है और विश्व उपभोक्ता अधिकार दिवस पूर्व अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जॉन एफ कैनेडी का विचार था।
