Best Speech on World Mental Health Day – 10 October 2026

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends,

A very good morning to everyone.

Today, I feel honoured to speak on an important topic that affects every one of us—mental health. We observe World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year to spread awareness about the importance of mental well-being and to encourage people to talk openly about their feelings and seek support when needed.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. We take care of our bodies by eating healthy food, exercising and getting enough sleep. In the same way, we need to take care of our minds by managing stress, expressing our feelings, getting proper rest and maintaining healthy relationships.

As students, we experience many emotions and challenges. Schoolwork, examinations, competition, expectations, friendships and changes in life can sometimes make us feel worried, stressed or overwhelmed. Feeling this way from time to time is normal. What is important is that we should not suffer silently.

Talking about our feelings is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of courage. If we are feeling continuously sad, anxious, lonely or unable to cope with our daily activities, we should speak to someone we trust—our parents, teachers, counsellors, friends or another responsible adult. Asking for help is a positive step towards taking care of ourselves.

We should also learn to care for the mental health of others. Sometimes, a simple “Are you okay?”, a kind word or patiently listening to someone can make a meaningful difference. We should never make fun of someone because they are struggling emotionally. Instead, we should show kindness, respect and understanding.

As students, we can develop healthy habits that support our well-being. Getting enough sleep, spending time with family and friends, participating in sports and creative activities, taking breaks from screens, enjoying nature and maintaining a balanced routine can help us feel better and stay positive.

On this World Mental Health Day 2026, let us make a promise: we will take care of our minds, respect the feelings of others, and create an environment where everyone feels safe to speak and seek help.

Let us remember that every mind matters, every feeling deserves respect, and no one should feel alone in facing life’s challenges.

Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
