A Lovely morning to each and everyone present here ! This is Twisha Roy from Class 8th. How luck we are ? Living without any tension of our basic requirements. But How can we all ignore the children who forced into begging, forced labour in factories, mines, construction and petty crime of the drug trade. This is shameful for those countries whose children are forced to engage such tasks. Children. Children are not meant to earn when they need to spend their days in lear.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the first World Day Against Child Labour in 2002 as a way to highlight the plight of children engaged in child labour. Observed on June 12th, the day is intended to serve as a catalyst for the growing worldwide movement against child labour.

And it is necessary to stop child labour to make the world a better world. Child Labour is a crime which snatch away a fun-filled childhood from a child, it referes to that work that is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangeous and harmful to children. Children are not supposed to be earning, breaking stones, making building at that very age. To raise awareness and to prevent child labour, ‘World Day against Child Labour’ is celebrated on 12th June every year.

My dear friends, As per available estimates, the total number of children in work globally stands at an incredible 152 millions between the ages of 5-17 years, almost half of theme, 73 millions are in hazardous child labour. To make the society child labour free we need to know the provisional laid down in our constitution for the protection of children and to stop their exploitation.

Without an education, children grow up without the skills they need to secure employment and one day they’ll send their own children to work someday. This cycle must end. Stopping child labour creates a better for children and adults.

Emphasizing the link between social justice and child labour, the slogan for the World Day in 2023 will be ‘Social Justice for All. End Child Labour!’.
