Best Speech on National Unity Day in English – 31 October 2026
Theme: Unity in Diversity – The Strength of India
Respected Principal, honourable teachers, and my dear friends,
A very good morning to everyone!
Today, we have gathered here to celebrate National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which is observed every year on 31 October. This day reminds us of the importance of unity, peace, brotherhood, and national integrity. It is also the birth anniversary of the great Indian leader, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India.
Dear friends,
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a visionary leader who played a historic role in India’s freedom struggle. After independence in 1947, India faced a major challenge: hundreds of princely states had to be integrated into the Indian Union. Through his courage, determination, diplomatic skills, and strong leadership, Sardar Patel helped unite these states and laid the foundation for a united India. His contribution earned him a permanent place in the heart of every Indian.
In his honour, the Government of India observes 31 October as National Unity Day. The Statue of Unity, located in Gujarat, stands as a magnificent tribute to his extraordinary contribution to our nation.
My dear friends,
India is a land of extraordinary diversity. We speak different languages, follow different traditions, celebrate different festivals, and practise different religions. From the snow-covered Himalayas to the beautiful beaches of the south, from the deserts of Rajasthan to the green fields of Punjab, our country presents a wonderful picture of diversity.
Yet, we are united by one identity: we are Indians!
Our national flag is one, our Constitution is one, and our love for our motherland brings us together. This is the true beauty of India. Unity does not mean that everyone must think alike or follow the same customs. It means respecting our differences while standing together for the greater good of our nation.
However, unity is not something that can be achieved through speeches alone. We must practise it in our daily lives. We should never discriminate against anyone on the basis of religion, caste, language, region, or economic background. We must respect one another, help those in need, and resolve our differences through understanding and dialogue.
As students, we have a special responsibility to strengthen national unity. We can begin with small actions: making friends with everyone, respecting all cultures, avoiding rumours and hateful messages, helping classmates, and participating in activities that promote cooperation and harmony.
Remember, a nation becomes strong not merely through its military power or economic progress, but also through the unity, character, and mutual respect of its citizens.
Dear friends,
Let us take inspiration from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s determination and commitment to national integration. Let us promise that we will never allow hatred, discrimination, or narrow-mindedness to divide us. Instead, we will spread the message of peace, equality, and brotherhood wherever we go.
On this National Unity Day, let us remember that our differences make us unique, but our unity makes us powerful.
I would like to conclude with these inspiring words:
“United we stand, divided we fall.”
Let us join our hands, unite our hearts, and work together to build a peaceful, prosperous, and powerful India.
Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!
Thank you, and have a wonderful day!
Thanks to Beloved Readers.
