Celebration of the fourth World Statistics Day on 20th October, 2025
The fourth World Statistics Day, created by UN Statistical Commission on 20.10.2010, is being celebrated across the globe on 20th October, 2025 with the theme “Quality Statistics and Data for Everyone”. The celebration of the World Statistics Day is a global collaborative endeavour, organized at five years interval.
The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) is also maintaining the official world Statistics Day website (https://unstats.un.org/unsd/wsd/2025/), where information regarding these initiatives is shared with the global community. This day highlights the importance of data, statistics, their contribution in evidence based decision-making and measurement of growth and development.
Data and statistics are instrumental in generating relevant insights into various aspects of any area of study, be it development, growth, socio-economic analysis, or governance. They assist in monitoring the performance of governments and their instrumentalities as also in better understanding the contribution of governance in its various dimensions to development.
The Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) of Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), in the last half a decade, has emerged as a hallmark of the most credible and encompassing education related database, not only in India but also globally. In the recent times, UDISE+ has established itself a pivotal decision support system in various Governments endeavours. Many schemes of the Governments are administered on the support of UDISE+, be it PM-YASASVI, PM VIDYALAXMI, DISHA, or Sambhav, Samagra Shiksha, to name a few.
All the schools are requested to enthusiastically participate in the celebration of World Statistics Day, 2025 and organize a dedicated session on UDISE+, elaborating upon various facets of UDISE+, for all the students, teachers and other functionaries of the school administration on this day. Some of the resource materials on UDISE+, as available at https://udiseplus.gov.in/#/en/page/udiseTutorial, may be used for the purpose.
