Good morning Respected Principal Sir, Teachers and my dear friends. Today, we are here to celebrate a most important day i.e World Environment Day.
I am thankful that my teachers gave me an opportunity to present a speech on World Environment Day in front of you all.
World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to celebrate annually on 5th of June.
It was first celebrated in 1973 aiming to inspire worldwide people to take positive actions regarding prevention of environment on planet earth. World Environment Day is a day especially celebrated to know and solve all the environmental issues.
It is also known as the Environment Day, Eco Day or WED. It is being celebrated globally for years with lots of creative activities and enthusiasm to bring positive changes in the environment. The annual celebration of it depends on the particular theme of the year (declared by the UN) which focuses on implementing some new ad effective plans to save the environment.
The theme for 2025 will focus on The World Environment Day 2025 theme is “Ending Plastic Pollution“. It’s a global campaign led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to raise awareness about the impacts of plastic pollution and inspire action to address it. The theme focuses on mobilizing communities, industries, and governments to take collective action towards a sustainable future free from plastic pollution.
In the happiness of worldwide technological development, we have forgotten that we are losing something too.
Because we have done mistakes for years in the form of development like high use of electricity, deforestation, industrialization, direct sewage outing to the big river canals, invention of plastics and polyethene’s, etc.
Such inventions have given rise to the global warming, pollution, rise of sea level, etc and declining the healthy condition of environment. We need to do something effective in order to reduce the rate of climate change as well as save many natural resources for better life on the earth in future.
3R techniques (reduce, reuse and recycle) can be very effective in lessening the impact of our bad activities over over natural ecosystem. We should start from small but effective steps like switch to organic food from inorganic food, use of natural fertilizers over chemical fertilizers, reduce use of electricity, reuse things, recycle wastes, stop deforestation, save wild animals, etc to protect the environment.
Our positive steps will really help in solving environmental issues in near future. Thus, we have the World Environment Day which serves as a reminder to protect the environment at all costs.
All the resources of nature from forests to oceans and soil to air, we must conserve.
“Let us hold hands and walk together towards a safe and healthy environment. Join the campaign to save environment.”
To sum it up, always remember that the gifts and blessings which nature provides us are priceless. It is rather essential to conserve them all for a better future and life for all.
