Respected Principal Sir, Teachers and My Dear Friends Good Morning to All.
Derived from the Sanskrit Word Yuj, Yoga means union of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or spirit. Yoga is a 5000 year old Indian body of knowledge.
Yoga is not only a physical exercise where people twist, turn, stretch, and breathe in the most complex ways, these are actually only the most superficial aspect of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘Yoga’ means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.
Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity. Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.
The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. The proposal for Yoga Day was first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address during the opening of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Yoga offers physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages. Yoga is not just about bending or twisting the body and holding the breath. It is a technique to bring you into a state where you see and experience reality simply the way it is.
